The objective of the Programme was to find an artist who was able to integrate art and technology in one single project, providing an artistic sense to the millions of data, visual or numeric, hided in the universe. The mere fact that an artist may be cohabiting in a space as the Astrophysical Observatory of the Roque de Los Muchachos, and in the natural environment the skies of the island of La Palma offer, makes the project itself to be an infinite source of generation of modern cultural content.
After launching the international call, Technarte received 150 projects within one month and a half. These proposals were submitted from 42 countries representing the 5 continents, including Argentina, Australia, Egypt, Spain, United States, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark and Pakistan among others.
For the evaluation of projects, TECHNARTE used an own software called Evaluart. The final results of the work will be presented at the International Conference on Art and Technology TECHNARTE BILBAO 2016, and the work will be exhibited in Bilba. Thus INNOVALIA demonstrates its commitment to training and professionalization of art through its own technological and human resources.
The START TECHNARTE LA PALMA project had a media impact of high level, not only regionally and nationally, but also internationally, allowing the position of Spain in the global orbit related to the generation of cultural content, linking nature, science, art and technology, through an innovative format.
